Dimitri Verhulst is a Belgian writer, considered in his homeland to be one of the most outstanding authors of his generation. His work is characterised by black humour, scathing criticism of society, and empathy for outsiders. Works of his that have been published in English include Problemski Hotel (2003), Christ’s Entry into Brussels (2011), and The Latecomer (2017). At FALL he will be presenting his latest novel, Hebben en zijn (To have and to be, 2022), which was published in Czech this spring. A film based on his autobiographical novel The Misfortunates (2006) was released in 2009.
