Tomáš Hříbek is a philosopher who focuses on the philosophy of the mind and language, the philosophy of science, and ethics and aesthetics. He has published three monographs: Metafyzika antiindividualismu (The metaphysics of anti-individualism, 2008), Jaké to je, nebo o čem to je? Místo vědomí v materiálním světě (What is it like, or what is it about? The place of consciousness in the material world, 2017) on phenomenal consciousness, and Obrana asistované smrti (A defence of assisted dying, 2021) on the ethical permissibility of euthanasia. He also deals with selected topics connected with the philosophy and ethics of new technologies, in both a professional and popularising capacity. To this end, he co-founded the interdisciplinary platform The Karel Čapek Center for Values in Science and Technology. He is a proponent of so-called new atheism. He works at the Institute of Philosophy of the Czech Academy of Sciences and teaches at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague.
